Dionysus is the wandering god of ecstasy, wine and terror – representing the polarity of pleasure balanced with pain, and swings wildly between extremes of ecstasy and agony. He is an androgynous, gender-switching rockstar. And in our modern interpretation, he’s trapped in a feedback loop of gluttony, pleasure, and pain.
