The Pledge – Ace Banner and Zack Dean
My name is Ace Banner and I’m fairly new around here. I only recently signed up to become a Scoutmaster after a thorough self-evaluation of my life. Suddenly, I realized that I had spent too much time in the cutthroat world of finance, working hard and making myself completely miserable. Not anymore. Sure, I had the house, the fancy cars and the nice suits, but it all felt meaningless. I did a lot of soul-searching and realized that the last time I felt free and truly happy was when I was a young Boy Scout. The world seemed so big back then, and so full of exciting possibilities. The more I thought about those heady, carefree days, the more I yearned to reconnect with them. So I quit my job, moved to the country and started volunteering for my local Boy Scout troop. I’m happier than I’ve been in years.
